Impresiones hormonales

series of 40

2019 | 17 x 24 cm | Coal pigment and Urine on Cotton paper | unique pieces

This collection was created as a diary written by my body during the 40 days before the birth of my daughter. I collected my morning urine daily and mixed it with pigment. Immediately I would place a paper inside for a few seconds and take it out. Each day a different pattern came out.

This was intended to create my own explanation of what was happening -medically- around me.

The number 40 refers to the Mexican "Cuarentena" i.e. the forty days that a woman has to recover upon giving birth.

The entire collection of 40 paintings was exhibited as part of my exhibition "Antes de la oxitocina" at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Vienna.
